Performing is very important too. I organize student concerts twice a year, usually a Halloween concert in costumes or Christmas concert, as well as a concert at the end of each school year.

I provide classes and musical arrangements for students to play in ensembles together, from duets and trios to chamber orchestras. Many of my students also perform with the D.Y.O (Dublin Youth Orchestra) and the N.Y.O (National Youth Orchestra).

My students regularly take part in music competitions such as the Feis Ceoil, Newpark Festival and the Kilkenny Cup.

Experienced with group teaching “Violin Project” in primary schools.

Why classical music?

   Classical music can positively impact everything from emotional development to motor skills to cognitive functioning;

   The act of practicing classical music and listening to it at the same time can teach kids to lengthen their attention span;

   Playing in ensembles provides a great opportunity to meet new friends in a unique learning environment;

   Classical music can provide the best approach to mastering the technique of an instrument;

   Mastering the technique of any instrument is important as it allows an easier and quicker access to other genres.

Improvise!

   Improvisation creates possibilities for those students who would like to try a different path or approach to music. It helps with understanding the harmonic and melodic relationship in songs, to develop ear training and awareness of musicality. Engaging in different aspects of music will help to maintain the focus of practice and learning, keeping the inspiration fresh and exciting.
